Project Summary:
The owners of this Seattle home wanted to enjoy the view of spectacular Lake Washington from their cliffside backyard all year long. By building a covered deck big enough to comfortably get in and out of a full sized hot tub, we helped them transform the minimal outdoor square footage into a cozy nook to enjoy the changing scenery of each new season.
Project Highlights:
- Custom covered hot tub deck
- Cedar slat privacy walls with a hidden access door
- Weatherproof design on a small, cliffs-de footprint
Deck with a View: A Hillside Hot Tub Retreat in Beacon Hill
Built on a narrow stretch of backyard overlooking the city, this small deck project packs a big punch. Perched along a hillside, the design accommodates a hot tub while maximizing safety, privacy, and panoramic views of the Seattle skyline. Cedar slats, durable roofing, and custom framing ensured both comfort and durability, even in the city’s stereotypically rainy weather.
Weatherproof Hot Tub Deck with Privacy Panels and a Clean Finish
This small but sturdy platform holds a full-size hot tub tucked neatly beneath a weatherproof roof. Slatted cedar panels on both sides add a sense of enclosure without closing off the space entirely, while galvanized support posts and finished trim give the structure a clean, intentional look.

Hidden Entry: Seamless Hot Tub Deck Access Built Into the Siding
At a quick glance, this privacy wall looks like a solid backdrop, but a closer look reveals a clever detail. The access door is built directly into the paneling, with each cedar board perfectly aligned to maintain the clean, modern look of the hot tub deck. This subtle touch enhances both aesthetics and functionality, creating a streamlined entrance that blends effortlessly into the structure.
